ISLAMABAD: Off the record statements of disqualified Premier, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif about two important national institutes have made ministers anxious while senior ministers including Shehbaz Sharif advised Nawaz to keep soft hand on important institutes.

Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday has clarified that he will not support ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif who was ousted by Supreme Court (SC) in Panamagate.

The landmark order had disqualified Sharif for hiding his assets and UAE's Iqama (work permit) on which he was to receive payment.

In the 36-page application, Sharif has requested the court to review its July 28 verdict.

To a question, he said Muhammad Nawaz Sharif time and again in his speeches underscored that some important amendments in the Constitution were need of the hour, so as to give protection to supremacy of law and democratic norms as well as dispensation of speedy and low-cost justice to common man. The petititons added that the five-member bench did not have jurisdiction to rule over case 184-3 to disqualify the prime minister "without fair trial" and added that the apex court overseeing the NAB probe is violation "against the trichotomy Article 175".

"It is our right to seek a review", the Reuters news agency quoted Jan Achakzai, an official at the ruling PML-N party, as saying.

The Supreme Court has also ordered the country's anti-corruption watchdog, the National Accountability Bureau, to open a criminal case against Sharif, his sons - Hussain and Hassan - and his daughter Maryam.
