Storm Harvey: Coast Guard urges people not to tweet for help

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Station Cortez received a call at 2:10 p.m. from a man aboard an 18-foot boat stating that his friend, Morgan, had gone spearfishing for what he anticipated would be 15 minutes but had not resurfaced.

The Nebraska National Guard has deployed equipment and personnel to help in ongoing hurricane Harvey relief operations in the USA state of Texas, Nebraska Governor Pete Rickett's office said in a press release on Monday.

The Coast Guard assessed damage and offered search and rescue assistance during an overflight from Port Aransas to Port O'Connor, Texas Saturday.

At 10 p.m. Central time Friday Harvey made landfall as a category 4 hurricane with winds of 130 miles per hour at Rockport, Texas, north of Corpus Christi, with reported storm surges of 6' but lower than the 12' possible levels forecast. A helicopter aircrew and rescue swimmer brought ashore crew members from the 105'x34', 4.400-hp tug Signet Enterprise, sunk in the harbor.
