Kono told Wang that North Korea's missile launch over Japan on Tuesday is an unprecedentedly serious and grave threat and totally unacceptable.

The communist country also threatened in early August that it would fire on the USA -held pacific territory of Guam.
North Korea has made it clear that it sees its weapons program, which demands regular testing to flawless, as the only way to contest decades of USA hostility, by which it means the huge US military presence in South Korea, Japan and the Pacific.
Britain, whose Prime Minister Theresa May is visiting Japan, has called for new United Nations sanctions against North Korea that would target guest workers sent mostly to Russian Federation and China, and whose wages are a source of revenue for Pyongyang.
But animosity is higher than usual following threats by Mr Trump to unleash "fire and fury" on the North, and Pyongyang's stated plan to consider firing some of its missiles near Guam.
North Korea conducted a missile launch over Japan early Tuesday morning, further ratcheting up tensions in the region. O'Shaughnessy, the commander of U.S. Pacific Air Forces, in a statement.
US President Donald Trump took to Twitter to condemn Pyongyang, writing "the US has been talking to North Korea, and paying them extortion money, for 25 years".

The missile used in the test on last week was likely a Hwasong-12, which has a range of 4,500 kilometers, according to the New York Times.
