Matchup breakdown for Ohio State

Unless Florida bounces back to win the SEC East, Michigan might only have one really strong win on its resume by the time November rolls around.

Ohio State wore new LeBron James brand cleats before their last big home game.

J.K. Dobbins was unstoppable, carrying the rock 29 carries for 181 yards but was kept out of the end zone. And while that's been a focus all offseason, it will be the uber-athletic front seven that helps them beat the Sooners this time around, doing just enough to contain Mayfield.

"People might put the headline as J.T. Barrett and I", Mayfield said.

Yup, here we go again. The dual-threat athlete also scrambled for 61 yards and another score. The senior completed 20 of 35 passes for 304 yards and three touchdowns. He did target junior wide receiver Parris Campbell the most, but Campbell hasn't been a key for Barrett in previous seasons - he only had 13 receptions in the 2016 season.

"They have a next-level offensive line", Ohio State defensive tackle Robert Landers told reporters. When the dust had settled, they had recorded five sacks and two interceptions.

In earning his trip to NY past year, Mayfield became the 59 player to finish in the top five of the Heisman race twice.

As for Mayfield, he's still haunted by Oklahoma's performance last season when it hosted Ohio State. "You've got to make plays when it's those, and Mark did that today".

Andrew Luck 'unlikely' to play Week 1
In 15 games last season, Luck threw for 282.7 yards per game and had 31 touchdowns compared to 13 interceptions. At the Colts annual Kickoff Luncheon on Wednesday owner Jim Irsay said it's a new era in the organization.

Let me get down to the brass tax in this one. "You've got to be able to make sure you are two steps, three steps ahead to make sure you know what the defense is going to do and this is what I need to do". Las Vegas is gifting me the half point hook and I've already take full advantage of it.

Oklahoma's defense needs to do something different than it did previous year. That could mean big trouble for a young and inexperienced secondary.

The marquee battle will likely be in the trenches when the Sooners have the ball. Ohio State is plenty capable of moving the football but to outscore the Sooners by a touchdown in this game is very debatable. The Cardinal are a flawless 4-0 ATS in their last four road games. Navy is 6-0 SU and 5-1 ATS in its last six games in September.

The Over is 14-6-1 in the Sooners last 21 road games.

Instead Ohio State's secondary with new corners Kendall Sheffield and Damon Arnette, and new safeties Jordan Fuller and Erick Smith must bounce back from the 400-plus passing yards (and two tight end touchdowns) IN had last week and try to shut down the Mayfield-Andrews connection. MI is 6-2 SU and ATS in its last eight games in Week 1. Four of the last five games in this matchup have gone under.

"There are times when we push it down the field, " said Barrett, who must be tired from constantly having to defend his performance (he's 27-4 as an Ohio State starter).
