School leaders in Columbus say student and staff are safe.

Columbus police announced Friday morning that an arrest has been made in the reported active shooter situation at an OH high school.

Police said they were called to the high school, which is a few miles south of downtown Columbus, at about 8:33 a.m. (1233 GMT) and arrested the suspect just before 9:00 a.m.(1300 GMT). Officers recovered a gun at the school.

Counselors will be there Monday for teachers and staff and on Tuesday for students. By early afternoon CCS said any remaining students that weren't picked up at Linmoor were taken back to Columbus Scioto HS for regular dismissal.

The district's website says Columbus Scioto "serves students challenged by emotional disturbances" in grades six through 12.

"They pat us down", Addis said.
