Reports of shooting at Dartmouth-Hitchcock in Lebanon

The Lebanon Police Department is asking people to avoid the area while roads around the hospital have been closed. Police earlier reported they were seeking a man with "salt-and-pepper blond hair" who was wearing a red camouflage shirt.

WMUR reports that there has been no official confirmation of shots fired but the hospital has issued an "active shooter alert".

Lebanon police responded around 1:30 p.m. for a report of an active shooter situation at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.

New Hampshire: Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Centre was put under lockdown on Tuesday after reports of an active shooter.

The Federal Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms and Vermont state police assisted New Hampshire and local police.

Attorney General Gordon MacDonald would only say that a suspect was apprehended without incident trying to leave the grounds of the hospital.

As per reports, all workers received an email from the hospital about a "code silver" asking them to get out if possible or take shelter in place.

"Code silver" indicates that a violent situation is unfolding.

Local 22 & Local 44 has a crew headed to the scene and will update this story when more information becomes available.

Dartmouth College, located about two miles away from the hospital, tweeted that its campus was not on lockdown.
