According to the same Financial Times sources, the Echo Protect is slated to be the next Echo-branded product and further underscores Amazon's effort to bring its Alexa technology into the mainstream.
Similar to other Fire tablets, the new Fire HD 10 has a custom Android version that Amazon calls Fire OS.
Amazon is attempting to develop glasses that pair with Alexa and would allow users to access the voice-activated assistant outside the home, according to a newspaper report. The smart glasses will be tethered to your smartphone and will most likely use the phone's data connection to use Alexa.
And Amazon could simply be experimenting with smart glasses for the time being, potentially with no ambitions to release a product at the end of the year, particularly when it's reportedly working on a host of other Alexa-orientated home tech.
The lack of a display and a camera may also means longer battery life, which the original Google Glass was heavily criticized for. The tablet also comes with expandable storage support for up to 256GB via microSD card. Plus, enjoy free unlimited cloud storage for all Amazon content and photos taken with Fire tablets.
Interestingly, Amazon marketing the tablet saying that the new Fire HD 10 is more durable than the iPad Pro 10.5-inch. The battery can now give up to 10 hours of usage on a single charge.

In her final round as a professional before retiring, two-time Evian victor Ai Miyazato shot 73 to finish 1 over. She could well have joined the playoff if not for the double bogey at the par-four 10th.
The tablet will be available beginning October 11 but you can now place your pre-orders.
Previous Amazon tablets required people to press and hold the home button to get Alexa's attention. The optics remain the same as last time, with a front facing HD camera and a rear-facing 5MP camera.
