Kidnapped Bengaluru youth found dead in quarry

As per reports, the police have arrested six, including a friend of the deceased named Vishal.

As the body was found floating two days later, it was again thrown back into the lake by tying it with stones, police said, adding that subsequently, it was taken out and buried to "destroy" evidence. Vishal called Sharath to an apartment complex in Kengeri on the pretext of letting him ride an imported bike belonging to a friend.

The kidnappers killed Sharath after finding out that his parents filed a police complaint. They will call you tomorrow.

According to reports, the teenager was kidnapped by one of his relatives named Vishal and his accomplices.

The victim who was a student of automobile engineering left his home on his new bike at around 6.30 pm on September 12 and told his parents that he is going to meet his friends.

As planned, Vishal and others kidnapped Sarath in a auto as he reached the meeting point, police said. The men then fished out the body and buried it near the lake. Sharath was reportedly kidnapped 10 days ago, on 12 September.

Following this, when the boy didn't return home, parents got anxious and registered a missing complaint with police.

The next day, the alleged kidnappers sent a video message via WhatsApp to the youth's mother and sister. "Today, his parents and sister received a WhatsApp video from his mobile phone, in which the boy is seen asking them to arrange Rs 50 lakh towards his ransom", a police officer associated with the investigation was quoted by India Today as saying.

He asked his family to arrange for the money and get him freed, the complaint said.

Deputy commissioner of police (north sub-division) Chetan Singh Rathore said five people had been identified as the perpetrators, including Sharath's friend HP Vishal, 20.
