As Luke Del Rio's pass wobbled through the air, he couldn't fight.

In the process, he won the job back from freshman Feleipe Franks, who started Florida's first two games, and was the hero of the Gators' dramatic win vs. Tennessee.

Fourth-year junior Luke Del Rio is wrapped up by Vanderbilt defensive end Dare Odeyingbo on the play the Gators' starting quarterback suffered a season-ending broken collarbone.

"Those scooters", McElwain said. "I just feel awful for him, and yet the guys rallied behind Feleipe".

Florida opened a 31-17 lead on running back Lamical Perine's third rushing touchdown of the game with 14:18 remaining. Cleveland finished that game with 124 receiving yards on three catches.

As of right now, Franks hasn't shown enough for the Gators to have much confidence in the October 28 matchup against Georgia that will nearly certainly decide the SEC East.

"Now, playing against these guys we're going to play against this week, you're going to have to play and grab cloth a little harder. He handled it like a competitor should and a good teammate should. yet he knew his time was not done by any stretch of the imagination". Franks completed 10-of-14 passes for 185 yards and threw no touchdowns or interceptions. Each led to points, including three touchdowns. The Gators out-rushed Vanderbilt 218 yards to 46. "Defensively, you've got to get off the field". None were more important than the three times Florida went for it on fourth down.

Enter Del Rio, who threw a game-winning touchdown pass with 43 seconds left to make the score 28-27.

After tying the game at 17-17 in the second quarter, the Gators locked down the Vandy offense in the second half, surrendering just one touchdown after the break.

GAINESVILLE | Tyrie Cleveland, one of the key players in a dramatic victory over LSU last season, is not expected to be available for No. 21 Florida on Saturday. We attacked them exactly the way we needed to, but I just don't think we did it consistently enough. "It turned out (Saturday) that we passed the ball a lot more".

Making his first start since last season's loss at Arkansas, Del Rio was 7 of 11 for 64 yards prior to his departure.

Perine got Florida on the board with a 1-yard scoring run with 6:12 left in the opening period before the Commodores tied it almost four minutes later when Shurmur tossed a 13-yard touchdown pass to sophomore receiver Kalija Lipscomb.

Florida's QB situation is yet again in flux.
