Iowa State QB Jacob Park on personal leave with 'medical concerns'

Iowa State is now facing Oklahoma on the road in Norman, and on Friday, we learned that it would be without its starting quarterback. But he passed for 343 yards and three touchdowns against the Sooners, completing 18 of 24 passes.

Making things even more hard for Iowa State was the fact that the Cyclones were without starting QB Jacob Park, who left the team to deal with an unspecified medical issue.

Iowa State responded with a 25-yard field goal from Garrett Owens to cut the OU lead to 14-3 with 1:20 to play in the first quarter. It was Iowa State's first road win over a top-five team. Let's talk about it. The other option could be senior Kyle Kempt, who is listed third on the team's official depth chart. Iowa State is by far the worst loss of that group, but the blueprint is there for the Sooners to rebound and win the Big 12.

Campbell said in a statement the team will stand behind Park as he deals with his unspecified issues.

"We are focused on helping Jacob in any way we can. We are just not making enough plays, and if you do that in this league you're going to come out on the short end of the stick".

That draw means that Liverpool have won just one of their six matches during September, going out of the League Cup in the process.

Turns out it was a great call for both parties.

Lanning's role for Saturday changed because starting quarterback Jacob Park went on leave for undisclosed medical reasons.

This win didn't come easy either.

The last time Iowa State beat Oklahoma, the Big 12 didn't exist.

Iowa State's comeback kicked into high gear when a fumbled exchange by the Sooners at the Cyclones 5 ended what looked destined to be another OU touchdown drive that would have put Oklahoma up by 15.
