In this episode's futuristic world, a dating app (or "system", as they call it) not only decides who you can date, but decides when your relationship will expire. The next round consists of six stand-alone episodes, including the 76-minute Star Trek-ian entry, "U.S.S. Callister", and the show's first-ever black-and-white episode, "Metalhead".

As Charlie Brooker's hit series returns to Netflix December 29, we are watching this trailer on REPEAT as we prepare for the next season.

- "Arkangel", directed by Jodie Foster (Money Monster, The Silence of the Lambs) and starring Rosemarie Dewitt (La La Land, Mad Men), Brenna Harding (A Place to Call Home), Owen Teague (Bloodline). Just in time for some New Year's binging, Season 4's six-episode run will be a late Christmas present - but if you have to known now, it's recently had its review embargo lifted. Basically, it sounds like a technological based version of The Lobster, coming from director Tim Van Patten. Finally, "Black Museum" will wrap up the fourth season with a tourist trap crime museum that has a deadly and "shocking star attraction".

While it's hard to live up to the lofty standards of "San Junipero", we can say there is an episode this season that come close to reaching its heartfelt message.

Meanwhile, The Independent recently sat down with creator, showrunner, and writer Charlie Brooker to discuss the upcoming episodes. "'U.S.S. Callister" is a space romp. "Hang the DJ" is a rom-com...is - it's playful. Season 4 will be available on Netflix on a Black Friday, December 29th, 2017 to be exact. Regardless of where you sit, Black Mirror has paved the way for countless copycats and revivals, making it a landmark program in its own right.
