AAA Survey: Gas Prices Continue to Dip

In September gas stations in San Antonio and across Texas were hit with shortages due to Hurricane Harvey related refinery outages and gas prices spiked.

Gas prices have dipped a bit in MA, just ahead of Christmas.

But they've been declining for five straight weeks, as refineries produce more gasoline than motorists are consuming, leaving markets oversupplied, AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins said. "At 20 cents more per gallon than the same time a year ago, pump prices don't seem to be a deterrent for today's travelers".

"Forty-four percent of the Washington metro area's 6,131,977 residents plan to take a trip for the Christmas/New Year's holiday travel period with 91 percent of them traveling by vehicle", said John B. Townsend II, AAA Mid-Atlantic's Manager of Public and Government Affairs.

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Jeremy Maclin (knee) will not return to the game versus the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. He was a different quarterback after the Ravens were denied a touchdown inside the one-yard line in the first quarter.

Gas prices are 12 percent higher this year in Rhode Island than last year, when the average price of gas was $2.24 per gallon, a difference of 28 cents. The average for Sunday was the same price according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 5,345 gas outlets in Ohio. In addition, the gap between prices today and a year ago is also at its narrowest in months, highlighting that prices are moving in the right direction for many. The current national average to be $2.43. In Pennsylvania, the average gallon of gas was $2.44.

State of Tennessee- $2.18, down 3.3 cents per gallon from last week's $2.22.

AAA expects gasoline demand to weaken throughout the winter, which translates to better prices at the pump.
