Brooklyn house fire kills woman, children, officials say


Three children and their mother died early Monday in a house fire in Brooklyn.

The fire on East 14th Street in Sheepshead Bay was discovered and called in at around 2:00 a.m.

The woman was 40 years old and the children were two boys, 11 and 7, and a 3-year-old girl, police said. He was left badly burned and said to be clinging to life at the burn unit at Staten Island University Hospital.

Commissioner Nigro said the fire appears to be accidental.
