Treasury imposes new sanctions on entities, individuals linked to North Korea

The South Korean government has rejected criticism that the games had been hijacked by North Korea, saying the event will help defuse tensions over Pyongyang's nuclear and missile programme.

South Korean Prime Minister Lee Nak-Yon has also confirmed that Seoul will allow a "massive [North Korean] delegation totaling between 400-500 people" to support their 22 athletes competing at the games, as well as a team of lovely young cheerleaders.
