Turkey, which is waging a military offensive against Kurdish YPG fighters in Syria's northwestern region of Afrin, has repeatedly said it will also drive the YPG militia from the mainly Arab town of Manbij, east of Afrin.

Ankara, which considers the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) in Syria a "terror" group, has vowed to carry on and possibly expand the operation, launched on Jan 20, despite global concern and strained relations with Washington.

Turkey launched "Operation Olive Branch" against Kurdish forces in Afrin more than a week ago.

Since Turkey's decision to fight hand-in-hand with the FSA in northern Syria, in order to clear the region from Kurdish militants of PYD and the YPG, both considered as PKK branches by Ankara, the country has sent troops there.
