Last year HTC released their latest smartphone, the U11, which is a mid-tier smartphone and a direct successor to HTC 10.
HTC may have plans for this year's new flagship smartphone but it doesn't seem like HTC is going to unveil a new handset at MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2018.
HTC U12, the company's upcoming flagship has been spotted in Taiwan at a 5G industry event, according to reports.
The pictures show the device's top and bottom bezels were covered, as well as its back, in order to hide specific details about the smartphone.

The Chief Minister welcomed the Prime minister to Bengaluru , and asked him help the State resolve the Mahadayi water dispute. The state BJP has, however, accused the Siddaramaiah of attempting to skirt state issues by invoking Modi.
From the photos posted on Twitter by a senior member of XDA Developers, iamaniff, the U12 appears to be sporting an 18:9 display. It's very hard to say anything about the design just by taking a look at the front.
As per a report by Taiwanese publication Sogi, HTC said that the new smartphone with fast data access would be launched sometime this year.
In the images below the HTC U12 has achieved a 809.58 Mbps download speed, which points to the zippy Qualcomm X20 LTE modem that will premiere with the Snapdragon 845. But in India, the company has only launched Amazing Silver variant of the phone.
The smartphone was showcased at the 5G event so it is quite obvious that the phone will come with a 5G connectivity option, which translates to download speeds of 809.58Mbps, which is nearly 1 Gbps (GB-per-second).
