Brandon Browner posted a rant on the Patriots benching Malcolm Butler

Three years after emerging an unlikely Super Bowl hero for the New England Patriots, Malcolm Butler mysteriously spent most of Sunday's championship game defeat sitting on the sidelines.

Belichick was asked Monday to explain Butler's benching for emotionally invested fans who feel an emptiness that the cornerback didn't play in New England's 41-33 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. The decision to bench Butler will be on that is questioned given the end result of the game.

It was the most surprising decision of the Super Bowl.

"I didn't know how to feel watching that s-t, without my homie playing, without Malcolm f-king playing, didn't know whether to cheer for their ass". I have nothing but great things to say about the organization.

Something smells rotten in Denmark ... or at least in Foxborough. He's earned enough clout to make such tough decisions.

Cornerback Butler did not play a single snap against the Philadelphia Eagles, relegated instead to special teams, a diminished role that clearly did not sit well with him.

The game plan was odd, at best.

Bill Belichick's made unorthodox moves, but this one is a head-scratcher. "Obviously, on the biggest stage". He posted six different times in reference to Butler's omission from the lineup. Browner said Belichick went on a "power trip".

Butler saw some playing time on special teams, but that was the extent of his playing time as Stephon Gilmore, Eric Rowe and Johnson Bademosi saw almost all the playing time at corner for the Patriots. "That's about it", Butler told ESPN's Mike Reiss. "I don't know. That's how the game goes sometimes".

Poor US leadership will lead to major war with Russia, China
The 74-page report, the Pentagon's first since 2010, cast China as "a major challenge to United States interests in Asia". A year ago it said that Washington's defense strategy tied to "outdated notions".

"The guy has played a lot of football, so to not be out there I'm sure crushed him", Patriots safety Devin McCourty said. I don't know. But I could have changed that game.

On the surface, there's no logic behind it. He had been one of the Patriots' steadiest players this season, appearing in 98 percent of the defensive snaps and starting 17 of 18 games this season.

Belichick said on Monday: "I respect Malcolm's competitiveness, and I'm sure that he felt like he could have helped". But when the Patriot defense gives up 41 points, 538 yards of total offense and allows Philly to go 12 or 18 on third and fourth down, you know that Butler couldn't have possibly made things worse.

They mystery surrounding his benching may never be solved, but Brandon Browner, a former New England Patriots cornerback who won a Super Bowl with the team, the benching had something to do with marijuana. Stupid decision and makes no sense.

If you're going to go down, you may as well at least go down with your best players on the field.

"A locker room was divided pre game", Browner wrote in a second post. Butler was a star in the team's 2014 National Football League title.

The former Pro Bowler opened up a little more as he walked to the team bus.

There is always a method to Belichick's madness.

Benching Butler cost the Patriots another Super Bowl ring.
