Minneapolis will not host the NFL Draft anytime soon

The city of Nashville was notified February 15 that it has been selected as one of five finalist cities to host either the 2019 or 2020 NFL Draft, according to a press release from the TN Titans.

The finalists to host the 2019 or 2020 draft, as announced on Thursday, are Cleveland/Canton, Kansas City, Tennessee, Denver and Las Vegas, per NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.

"It's a competitive process, and we're excited to move one step closer to bringing the NFL Draft to Denver", Broncos president and CEO Joe Ellis said in a statement. However, it's clear the league liked the city's pitch enough to consider it strongly because they're potentially up "next" after Philly hosts it one more.

The draft used to be held in New York City every year, but the league chose to move it around to different cities starting in 2015.

But that doesn't change the fact that NY needs to get their offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach positions filled quickly. Shurmur and Stefanski first met with the Eagles 2005, when the former was quarterbacks coach and latter was an operations intern.

The league is expected to make a final selection on a host city at the NFL meetings in May.

If Kansas City is named a victor, it'll be the first time K.C. has hosted an NFL Draft.

Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk told the team website, "We are thrilled that Nashville is one of the finalist cities for the 2019 or 2020 NFL Draft".

This year's draft is taking place April 26-28 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Chicago and Philadelphia were the last two landing spots for the draft. However, following a scheduling conflict in 2014 - forcing the NFL to move its date back, the league took the Draft on the road.
