BB&T banking services down Friday morning due to technical issues

A BB&T outage left millions of customers unable to access their accounts across the U.S.

BB&T said Friday several of its banking services were down after an equipment failure at one of its data centers.

BB&T reporting an outage of its ATMs, online banking, mobile banking app and automated phone service.

WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina (WDEF) - Customers of BB&T were cut off from their money for awhile on Friday, due to a "technical issue".

The movie's three-day gross of $201.8 ranks fifth highest all time, not accounting for inflation. The film's expected earnings were between $165-170 million.

"We are working diligently to restore all our banking services, and the recovery is well underway", BB&T said in a statement Friday afternoon.

Responding to an individual customer's inquiry about not being able to see if their direct deposit was posted, the bank said on Facebook: "Once the system comes up we will process transactions and everything should be up to date". Cybersecurity is not believed to be related to this issue at this time.

BB&T said in its tweet that people can still use their BB&T debit, credit, and prepaid cards. "We will continue to provide updates here and on", officials with the Winston-Salem-based bank wrote Thursday night on Twitter.

Company officials say they're willing to work with customers who experienced any issues related to this outage.
