Federer not trying to eclipse Williams' grand slam tally

Serena, after her year's absence, arrives without a ranking and thus unseeded, and will first play the 53-ranked Zarina Diyas-a woman who is a dozen years younger than the two-time former champion.

Williams, a victor of 23 grand slams - a record in the Open Era - is set to be back in a WTA tournament for the first time in over a year at Indian Wells, as she bids to build up her playing time ahead of the French Open and Wimbledon.

The American star's time out of the game has been eventful.

Like I said, you have to give Serena time before betting any serious money on her match wise or to win tournaments.

Venus Williams, who also played in the Tie Break Tens event, says that while her sister may be taking things slow, the talent is still there. Victory over sister Venus in the final left her just one behind Margaret Court's all-time record of 24 Grand Slam singles titles.

Here we get a reflective Williams, ticking off the list of reasons many had for her not to succeed.

Her sister Venus, who was also at the event in NY, said: 'I mean, the matches are definitely a good way to know where you are, but obviously she knows how to play.

Sailors are expected to participate in cultural and professional exchanges during community service projects and receptions. Navy officers will meet their Vietnamese counterparts and local authorities, who will be invited on a tour of the carrier.

"Serena's target (for this season) will be to win grand slams", Mouratoglou said.

Williams has not played on the tour since announcing her pregnancy in April 2017.

Serena was playing singles for the first time this year as she prepares to return to the WTA Tour for the first time since giving birth to her daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr., on September 1. The victor of two tournaments already this year, she won the last seven points to break away from a 3-3 tie against Venus, then swept Vandeweghe 10-0. No matter what shape you think Serena is in, Diyas cannot play at that level if she expects to get the victory here and advance in this big tournament.

She added it was "impossible" to say how long she would continue to play for.

"I would have thought I would have retired six years ago, but I'm still here and I'm playing great, and I think I'll still be playing good".

"I can't go and say I expect to lose because that is something I will never say".

Williams, a victor of 23 Grand Slam titles, is in the same quarter of the draw as older sister Venus.
