Back from ankle injury, Curry hurts knee in Warriors' win

It was an odd sight, given that Curry starred at Davidson from 2006-09 before beginning his professional career as the seventh overall pick by the Warriors in the 2009 NBA Draft. Curry's latest injury provided questions on whether that is possible.

Stephen Curry scored 29 points in 25 minutes before sustaining an sprained MCL in his left knee Friday night as his Golden State Warriors beat the Atlanta Hawks 106-94 in Oakland, Calif.

His four-point play - a 3-pointer on which he was fouled - put the Warriors in front for the first time since the first quarter.

After the laughter stopped, Kerr turned serious. "I have seen Steph come back from injury and nothing would surprise me". "Everybody feels for Steph", Kerr said.

Curry, who missed 11 games earlier in the season due to a right ankle sprain, was playing in low top sneakers on Friday for the first time since getting his own signature shoe with Under Armour.

Curry exited the game and went to the locker room for examination.

Teammate JaVale McGee jumped in the air to contest an attempt from Atlanta's Mike Muscala, and after fouling Muscala, McGee fell right into Curry's left knee. Depending on the grade of the injury, Curry could be out for 1-to-4 weeks, with the playoffs starting in three.

Golden State as a team has been injury ravaged: Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green each have injuries keeping them out, although Green's isn't considered serious and Durant is expected back relatively soon. Unfortunately, he hurt his left knee.
