Snapchat's Snappables are new augmented reality games you can play with friends


The AR games are called Snappables offer Snapchat users small games to play that can be controlled through touch, motion, or, in some cases, facial expressions. Here's what you need to know. Control schemes will change depending on the game, with some titles offering traditional touch controls while others will be controlled by movement and still others will even be controlled by Snapchat users' facial expressions.

To add this new feature to the app, Snapchat has moved the World and Face lenses to the right side of the camera icon. Snappables invite you to become a part of another world and then share that world with your friends.

How many Snappables are available?

To play with Snappables, users must first choose one Lens that corresponds to specific game. Its rivals like Facebook and Instagram still has not rolled out any AG based features on their platforms and it remains to be seen how they react to this latest feature of Snapchat. New content on a daily basis is definitely a good thing, though, especially if the games are fun and you don't mind making insane faces out in public.

There are very few of us with the confidence to play Snappables in public, but at least Snap is encouraging you to try. You can use Lenses, join only with your voice, or simply send messages that others can read while they talk.
