Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to express their delight at reports that the club are closing in on the signing of Lyon attacker Nabir Fekir.

Nabil Fekir looks set to complete a move to Liverpool this summer with the Premier League side looking to complete the deal when the new window opens, according to the Daily Star.

However, Fekir's father Mohamed has slammed reports he's heading to Liverpool, claiming the France global is going nowhere.

The stories around Nabil Fekir's transfer to Liverpool this summer have become more substantial and frequent over the past week.

Speculation regarding the 24-year-old's future was heightened during the last few days with claims a £65million switch had been agreed and that a move to Anfield was imminent.

He went on to advise investors to invest in the stock market rather than gambling with Bitcoins or any other cryptocurrency . He said: "As a class of asset, you aren't producing anything so you should not just expect it to go up".

However, speaking to Olympique-et-Lyonnais.com, the player's father was at pains to deny his son was on Merseyside, or even has been, to agree to the move. "I hear there are arrangements, stuff like that - I was surprised". Mohamed Fekir says: "I can deny this information right now: it's not true".

'Otherwise, Nabil would have told me right away, we are very close.

"I can guarantee you that he never met him [Jurgen Klopp]".

Fekir, who has scored 22 goals and provided seven assists in 38 matches across all competitions this term and was appointed as captain by Bruno Genesio in August, is on track to realise that dream of playing in Europe's elite club competition.

With two games to go, both Monaco and Europa League finalists Marseille can both catch Lyon for the race of an automatic Champions League spot.
