Apple reveals new iOS 12 privacy features

"We're shutting that down", declared Apple's software chief Craig Federighi, at the firm's developers conference. Users are able to switch between light and dark mode. Unlike the Dark Mode introduced in Yosemite 2014 back, this re-introduced feature, turns the entire desktop interface dark. It isn't simply the system elements like the dock and window chrome that are going dark, Apple's native apps now plug into the dark theme as well as apps which are built with the latest MacOS APIs in mind. Next year, Apple will open up this capability to its developers. These color accents will affect various parts of the operating system such as menus and mouse clicks.

In the web browser Safari, enhanced "Intelligent Tracking Prevention" helps block social media "Like" or "Share" buttons and comment widgets from tracking users without permission, the Cupertino, California-headquartered tech giant said. The system will also prevent users from being tracked based on their system configuration.

Continuity Camera: With this feature, users will be able to scan a document or shoot an image using the iPhone while the same gets added to the document on the Mac.

Apple's attempt to improve users' passwords takes the form of integrated tools for generating strong passwords (and flagging reused ones), saving them into the iCloud keychain, and entering them into Safari and iOS apps when needed.
